What a Difference a Week Makes

Things are finally starting to look half decent in the flower gardens.

The rock garden.

The log garden.

The new garden.

The greenhouse seedlings need to be put into new containers. It’s hard to keep up!

The Calendula.

Feverfew with Anise Hyssop.

You can read about our Anise Hyssop here.

Watermelon.

Zucchini.

Bamboo. I didn’t think it would come back!

We don’t remember planting this. We don’t even know what it is. At first we thought it might be a Calla Lily. But after a few days watching the leaves unravel, it doesn’t seem to be one. Can anyone tell me what it is?

What is this?

I am still clearing the back lot:

It’s going to be a year or so before I finish. But I will finish it!

I did find an axe head (One heavy sucker!) and a glass vial of some sort while raking. I posted it in the Object du Jour section (tab up top).

We have done a few more things since these pictures were taken.

Hope your gardens are doing well!  :)

The Seedlings

I keep complaining about the cold weather here and not being able to plant. The truth is, this is the first time we are ahead of the game. Growing from our own seeds and purchased ones.

We didn’t get a chance to put our greenhouse to use last year, we built a quick one in the summer. Our peppers didn’t seem to like our garden so last year we housed them all season long in there. Best crop ever!

We never have been able to start our veggie gardens until what we call May two- four (24th) week-end. It’s a long week-end and I think everyone called it two- four for how many bottles of beer come in a case. It means party time in Canada. I don’t drink often, on occasions, so it means garden time for me.

We are running out of space in the house and greenhouse. We are giving away some of the seedlings to friends and family. Most people want to wait until they actually have the veggies on it! Come harvest time, you wouldn’t believe the company we get, just happened to be in the area! LOL! Not that we mind. We grow more than we need for that purpose.

On to some of our seedlings:

(Calendula) For our tea and health!

The garlic is looking good!

The oregano came back.

Various pepper plants.

Various tomato plants.

Coming up: A new compost experiment we are trying.
